Storage Downe Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Downe in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Downe is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and in full compliance with applicable legislation relating to modern slavery.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Downe provides storage and related services to a range of customers. Our operations rely on a network of suppliers and service providers, including facilities management, security, cleaning, equipment, technology solutions, and other professional services. We recognise that modern slavery can occur in any country, sector, or supply chain and therefore we are committed to ongoing vigilance and continuous improvement in how we identify and address these risks.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
Storage Downe has a clear, zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, and human trafficking. This applies to all persons working for or on behalf of Storage Downe, including employees, agency workers, contractors, consultants, and suppliers. We expect everyone associated with our business to act with integrity and to uphold our standards on human rights and fair treatment.
Our internal policies communicate our expectations for lawful and ethical conduct, including adherence to labour standards, non-discrimination, safe working conditions, and fair pay. Breaches of these policies may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment or business relationships, as appropriate.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We seek to work with suppliers that share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. Storage Downe is implementing supplier standards that set out our expectations in relation to human rights, working conditions, and ethical conduct. These standards form part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing relationship management.
Where risk is identified due to geography, sector, product category, or nature of services, Storage Downe may undertake supplier due diligence and audits. Such audits may include document reviews, questionnaires, site visits, and discussions with management and workers to assess labour practices. If non-compliance or concerns relating to modern slavery are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. In serious cases or where remediation is not effective, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Downe encourages employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns or suspected instances of modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our operations or supply chains. Concerns can be raised through our internal reporting channels and whistleblowing procedures, which allow individuals to report issues confidentially and, where permissible by law, anonymously.
We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises concerns in good faith. All reports are taken seriously and will be investigated promptly and impartially. Where appropriate, Storage Downe will work with external experts or authorities to support investigations and remediation.
Training, Awareness, and Responsibility
Relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and facilities operations, are provided with information and guidance on recognising signs of modern slavery and how to respond to concerns. Management is responsible for promoting awareness of our zero-tolerance stance and ensuring that policies and procedures are followed.
We continue to review the adequacy of our training and awareness programmes to strengthen our ability to identify and mitigate risks of modern slavery.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Storage Downe is committed to continual improvement in our approach to tackling modern slavery. We monitor the effectiveness of the measures described in this statement through review of supplier performance, incident reports, audit findings, and feedback from stakeholders.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by the Storage Downe leadership team to ensure it remains accurate, relevant, and effective. As part of each annual review, we assess progress made, identify areas for improvement, and update our policies, procedures, and risk assessment processes where necessary.
This Statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Downe and reflects our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
